Watch your mouth - Speak life

Proverbs 18:21

"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."

People sometimes die because of something said. Tongues can be weapons of mass destruction, launching holocausts and wars. Tongues can also be the death of marriages, families, friendships, churches, careers, hopes, understanding, reputations, missionary efforts, and governments.

However, people also live because of something said. Proverbs 15:4 says the tongue can be “a tree of life” Tongues reconcile peoples and make peace.

Our Tongue can make marriages sweet, families strong, and churches healthy. Our Tongue can give hope to the despairing, advance understanding, and spread the gospel.

Words are a powerful force. If there is any doubt about how powerful words are, think about this for a moment: God created the heavens and the earth with words.

Why is this significant? You are made in the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:26), which means you are a "speaking spirit".

You possess creative power to create your world with your words or even destroy it!

In this world we live in we say things without thinking, we sing songs without checking the lyrics, some words we say every day affects the way we live and bring consequences to our lives and the lives of others. God made us “Holy ‘’ the word Holy in Hebrew doesn’t mean an exaltation but it means that you are dedicated to someone or something.

We can understand that we as believers are Holy (dedicated) to God; because we are made at the image (shadow) of God we should make sure that anything that comes out of our mouth has to reflect what God will say.

In Isaiah 54:17 it is written “no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that accuses you. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and this is their vindication from me, declares the LORD"

God gave us the power to condemn any tongue that speaks badly of us. It is not the person we condemn, but the words that have been said to either destroy us, belittle us, or curse us. You have the right to rebuke all the words that have been said in your life by maybe your parents, your friends or an unknown person that doesn’t align with the Torah ( The Bible)

In conclusion, God made us expressive beings, we are nearly lost without communication. That is why we have audio recordings and Braille for the blind, sign language for the deaf, and writing for anyone who has something to say from afar.

Indeed, speech has enormous implications, especially as a vehicle for sharing the gospel (Romans 10:14). God wants us to use our tongue to BRING LIFE and not death.

Stop cursing yourself by saying “I’m not smart, I’m not qualified, I can’t do this or I can’t think do that " What you say and declare will unfortunately come to pass.

Words are seeds; make sure to plant good seeds wherever you go. We as believers in Yeshua - Jesus are commanded to control the tongue and to “keep it from evil and our lips from speaking lies” (Psalm 34:13).

A Christian’s speech should consistently honor the Lord.

Shalom
